Pastor Tyler Jones4:15 PM EST...
God has been gracious to open some incredible doors recently. Right now I’m sitting in Raleigh, North Carolina. I had the honor of preaching at a great Acts 29 Church-Planting Boot Camp; over three hundred folks joined us, and twenty-five potential planters were assessed.
was our host and did a great job. We were also honored to have Dr. Daniel Akin, Dr. Wayne Grudem, and Dr. Andreas Kostenberger join us to teach, and they were great. Acts 29 currently has two hundred churches in the US. If we continue at present rates, we’ll be at five hundred churches in less than three years, and one thousand churches within seven years.
Last night I also got to preach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for Campus Crusade for Christ. It was encouraging to see both the main room and the overflow video room beyond capacity. In a few minutes I head out for dinner with Daniel Akin and C. J. Mahaney. These are great brothers and dear friends, and I look forward to preaching with them today and tomorrow at the 20/20 Conference, which, rumor has it, has also sold out.
Furthermore, in the past twenty-four hours some great requests have come in from our PR coordinator at Mars Hill. On Thursday, I’m scheduled to do an interview with DL Hughley for his comedy news show on CNN. The segment will hopefully air next weekend. As for the other media request, I can’t say much about it right now because details are still tentative. Suffice it to say, it would be an amazing chance to talk about Jesus to a lot of people. I would appreciate prayer for these opportunities.
Mostly I’m looking forward to getting home to see Grace (my wife) and the Fab 5 (our kids). iChatting is nice, but when five-year-old Alexie said she needed a hug, the iChat just didn’t cut it. Finally, the sermon for Sunday is steeping decently, and I’m really looking forward to plowing forward in 1 Peter this week. It’s been a great series for me personally and the feedback from our folks and online friends has been super encouraging. Like a Kite in a Hurricane
