There’s a lot of people to serve and a lot of work to do at Mars Hill, by God’s grace. We really appreciate folks praying for the church—especially as a family or as a Community Group—so here are a few specific things to lift up this week.
Ballard
This Thanksgiving, the Ballard church is partnering with other merchants and organizations in the community for a Thanksgiving meal and donation effort for the local homeless. Pray for many people to be reached and for a good and lasting partnership between the church and community. (If you’d like to get involved in this event, please email Pastor Adam.) The church also has two new evening service times at Ballard: 4 and 7 p.m. Please pray that this change will be missionally effective and received with enthusiasm.
Downtown Bellevue
As the Bellevue church continues to grow, pray for the maturation of the hundreds of new people who are coming. The church is seeing numerous situations of deep sin and blindness from people who are not walking with Jesus, but whom God has brought to church recently.
Downtown Seattle
As our Downtown Seattle church prepares to open the amazing new building, pray that people are giving and serving faithfully to get the church ready to love and serve more people than ever.
Federal Way
Please pray that God would raise up more leaders to plant Community Groups throughout the region as Mars Hill Federal Way is growing and preparing to launch the Tacoma church next year.
Olympia
November 18 is the Olympia church's Vision & Celebration service and member meeting with baptisms. The church is praying for 10 baptisms that night. Pray for the 24 Community Group leaders spread throughout the South Sound, for courage and strength to advance the gospel of Jesus in their city.
We also praise God: we had a soldier return home safely this past week. He was reunited with his family and worshiping Jesus as church yesterday. Pray for the four other soldiers who are set to come back home in the next three weeks.
Portland
Please pray for Mars Hill Portland's leadership development: the church needs more leaders in key areas like Community Group leadership and needs existing leaders to continue to grow in their capacity and effectiveness. Also please pray for the upcoming Christmas series, God’s Work, Our Witness at the church: pray that many people would be drawn to hear about Jesus in this key series.
Rainier Valley
Please pray that our Rainier Valley church would find new and fresh ways to engage the community. Please pray for their REMIX service (Sundays at 6 p.m.), that it would grow and that the church would serve the people in that service well.
Sammamish
Some leaders have been identified and enlisted to start strategizing about an upstream “Faith at Work” kind of ministry at our Sammamish location. In the Sammamish area, among many occupationally successful men and women, the church feels like this kind of ministry might be a tremendous opportunity for the mission at Mars Hill Sammamish.
Shoreline
Pray for leaders at our Shoreline church. The church is starting to see some new young leaders come in with great potential and is praying for ways to communicate that there are seats at the table, meaning much opportunity to pitch in and help lead and build the Shoreline church.
U-District
Pray for people to meet Jesus and get baptized at Mars Hill U-District on Sunday, November 18. Pray that many would participate in the church's upcoming events, including the special Apologetics Seminar on November 17, which is open to the public and hosted by Dr. Justin Holcomb.
West Seattle
Our West Seattle location is hosting a Church Collective event on November 18. The church will be hosting a night of worship and prayer for a wide variety of Christian churches in West Seattle. Also pray for the Fall Coat Drive with Nickelsville and Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission.
Leadership
Pray for our November session of Re:Train this week, that the men and women participating in the program would be further equipped to lead in the local church. Pray also for Dr. Ray Ortlund, who will be teaching.
