Giving is an act of worship

Mars Hill Family,

One of my favorite parts of our year-end fundraiser, God’s Work, Our Witness, is hearing the encouraging stories that come from our churches when people step out in faith and God proves faithful to provide for them. I want to share a few of those stories with you.

In Federal Way, one of our Community Group leaders was praying with his family about ways they could give above and beyond so they could support the year-end fundraising campaign. They had already increased their giving and were doing it sacrificially. His family was surprised with a check for $1,300 and decided to give it to the church.

Another Mars Hill member decided he was going to take on an extra job and give the money to the church. His client was so happy with the work he did, that he gave him a $700 bonus, which he decided to give to the church as well.

In Bellevue, a woman knew her husband needed a winter coat, but it wasn’t in their budget, so she began saving up money to get one. As she was going through her closet to give away extra coats to the Union Gospel Mission Coat Drive, she came across a nice coat she had forgotten she owned. Her first thought was to sell it and put the money towards her husband’s new coat, but she felt the Holy Spirit asking her to also donate it to the coat drive. She struggled with the decision because she wanted to serve her husband well by selling the coat, but eventually she trusted the Holy Spirit and donated the coat. Her husband came home from work a few days later and excitedly announced that he had entered into a Marmot coat contest online and won a brand new winter coat.

Praise God for all the ways that he works through his people! As we give as an act of worship in response to God’s goodness, we get to participate in the amazing work he is doing.

If you have yet to participate in our God’s Work, Our Witness giving campaign, I invite you to do so and be a part of our mission to make disciples and plant churches.

Here’s how you can help: 1) Make a one-time, year-end gift, 2) Set up recurring monthly giving online, and 3) Submit a family giving pledge for 2013.

This can all be done over at marshill.com/give

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

The Mars Hill Guide Leadership at Mars Hill

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
