Stories from around Mars Hill, 7/9/13

The sun is finally shining in Seattle and we’ve seen Jesus work in some amazing ways over the last week at Mars Hill Church. Here are a few of our favorite stories.

  • A woman from Mars Hill Shoreline has been battling seizures and brain tumors for years. A couple weeks ago, the elders at Shoreline anointed her with oil and prayed for her. She went in for scans last week and reported to the elders that all her scans were clear!
  • A couple from Canada has been podcasting Mars Hill sermons, and they recently visited Mars Hill Downtown Seattle while on vacation. During the call to serve, they heard about the church cleanup so they decided to stay and help out because they were excited to serve with the family they only know through podcasting. I love to hear stories from our extended family around the world!
  • Eight people in our student ministry asked Jesus to save them over the past week. A high school guy who met Jesus on Thursday night asked if he could pray during the Community Group time. He prayed, “Jesus, thank you for that Australian guy Adam and his crazy good talk. I’m glad I know you now. Amen.”
  • A woman at Mars Hill Olympia gave birth to a daughter several weeks prematurely. In the midst of the stress and chaos, her Community Group and the church have stepped up to serve the family in a variety of ways, housesitting, caring for the pets, and hospital visits, among other things. Please pray for the health of the mom and new baby.
  • Over the past two weeks we’ve seen 18 baptisms at Mars Hill Ballard, eight baptisms at Mars Hill Downtown Seattle, and 18 at Mars Hill Bellevue.

Please join with us in praising Jesus for how he is changing people’s hearts at Mars Hill!

How has Jesus been changing you at Mars Hill? Let us know.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Cheerful givers wanted

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
