The burden of trying to make your life right is too great. The burden of trying to make yourself right with God is too great. Jesus says, “Come, I’ll give you rest,” and “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” #bestsermonever

More from Dr. Grudem
For his day job(s), Dr. Grudem is a theology and biblical studies professor at the Phoenix Seminary, served as the general editor of the ESV Study Bible, and is a co-founder and past president of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (see below for a couple great interviews with him and his wife about their marriage). Here are some highlights from around the Web of his work.
Interviews
What is systematic theology?
Dr. Grudem can lay claim to a title few others can: he has written the seminal systematic theology in modern evangelicalism—one that has sold over 300,000 copies, no less.
“What is a systematic theology?” you ask. Great question! Here’s Dr. Grudem to explain it for the non-seminarians among us.
The Grudems’ marriage testimony
Oh man, the Grudems are a sweet couple. In this clip, he and his wife, Margaret, talk about their marriage and a serious car accident she was in early in their marriage, and in doing so, tell an endearing story of sacrificial love.
But they weren’t quite done talking about their marriage! Here, they sit down with Pastor Mark in this Resurgence interview from 2010. One key to their marriage of 40-plus years? “Ordinary wise friends,” says Margaret.
An example of a Bible translation debate
Dr. Grudem is one of the country’s leading Bible translators. So what does Bible translation look like today? In this clip from Tyndale, we get a glimpse as he and his colleagues work through a delicate term, “slave.”
