Concerned pastor, caring people: sermon recap

In the fifteenth and final sermon in the James: Jesus’ Bold Little Brother series, Pastor Mark preached through James 5:13–20. These are the final words in Pastor James’ letter to his church, and what he is most concerned about is people’s relationships with God and with other people, particularly our brothers and sisters in Christ. Catch up on the sermon below and share the following quotes and images with your friends and family on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

When you look across the church, you’ll find some individuals getting healed and others who are sick and dying. Some are living in a time of great joy and celebration, and others deep grief. Every experience, James says, should cause us to pray.

The difference between amazement and faith

Sermon by Dr. Paul Tripp

You can be amazed by things that you don’t actually put your faith in. Such was the case for the disciples at the feeding of the 5,000. Now, at the Sea of Galilee, Jesus proves he is Lord of Creation, the great “I Am,” taking the disciples where they haven’t chosen to go in order to produce in them what they could not achieve on their own.

By Pastor Ryan Kearns

Most of us know what it means to feel a disconnect between what we believe and how we feel. Could it be that this is really a cry for community—a place where we can be the whole people God intended us to be?

5 ways we experience the power of the gospel in community

We were saved into community. God has gathered under his roof an enormous crew of former rebels, and he has turned us into family. Christian community is where we get to experience the power of the gospel in its full power.

How to be there when your friend is suffering

By Jessica Thompson

When someone you love is hurting, it can sometimes feel hard to know what to do or say without sounding trite. How can we love others through suffering without platitudes?

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
