Who wants to go to Ethiopia?

Mars Hill Church is preparing to send out short-term mission trips to Ethiopia in 2015. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 to go and make disciples of all the nations, and we are excited to provide opportunities for our church family to do just that.

In February 2014, Pastor Sutton Turner led ten Mars Hill pastors to Ethiopia with the intent of training those pastors to lead you, members of the church, on similar short-term trips in the future.

So who wants to go to Ethiopia?!

Beginning in early 2015, Mars Hill will send small teams of people from every one of our churches for several purposes. First, we want to bring our people face to face with the church-planting ministry we support and to encourage the Ethiopian evangelists who are on the front lines. The second purpose is to provide members of the church with the chance to experience the culture of Ethiopia and to serve and minister to the people there. Your efforts just to get there will serve as a huge encouragement to the Ethiopian church. Lastly, it is our hope that a short-term missions experience in Ethiopia will move your heart for the lost world around you, in your local context, once you return.

If you sponsored a child in Ethiopia during our Sponsor a Child campaign this year, you will also have the opportunity to meet your sponsored child through our partnership with Compassion International.

Start packing your bags. Here’s what you need to know:

Who’s going?

There will be 15 spaces available on each trip.

What are we talking about?

There will be 10 trips in 2015 led by your pastors. These trips will be 12 days in length, including travel time.

When do we leave?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will take place next year at a date yet to be determined. We will communicate dates as soon as they become available.

Where do I sign up?

Due to the limited capacity of each of these trips, an application will be required from each participant. Applications will be available at a later date. For now, please fill out this form if you are interested in participating and we will follow up with you accordingly.

How much will it cost?

$3,700USD. This will cover all transportation (including flights), food, and lodging expenses throughout the 12 days. This also includes the costs involved in meeting your sponsored child in Ethiopia, as applicable.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
