Internships Matter

Internships matter. Personally, being an intern in college was one of the best decisions I could have made. Jesus saved me when I was 19 years old. Shortly afterward, Jesus called me to be a pastor, which was a massive shift from my business trajectory. I had no idea what being a pastor looked like or even if I could do it, so I signed up to do a pastoral internship at a local church. It was a hard year, but a good year that laid the foundation for my years of ministry since. Now as a pastor it’s my privilege to get to help develop people through internships at Mars Hill Church. Do you have a desire to be an intern?

Why Mars Hill

Paul explains in Ephesians 4 that Jesus gives leaders to the church to equip all Christians for ministry. At Mars Hill, internships are one way we get to intentionally equip Christians for ministry. Our internships are designed for future leaders and include quality training, hands-on ministry experience, regular discipleship, personalized growth plans in a structured, but flexible environment. Upon completion of their internship, interns report a deeper sense of calling, greater competency in ministry, more love for the church and an honest reflection of themselves. Do you want to serve at Mars Hill Church?

Where to serve

Mars Hill is one church in multiple locations. Interns at Mars Hill can serve at one of our 15 local churches in Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Arizona and California or at our Ministry Support offices in Bellevue, WA. Local churches provide an on-the-ground, frontline ministry experience in every area of the church where interns work with experienced leaders. There are spots in Kids and Students ministry, Community Groups or counseling, writing stories or social media, facilities and events, production or worship and every thing in between. Our Ministry Support offices work with all our local churches and include departments such as finance, human resources, IT, leadership development, media and communication, production, or property and development. Are you ready to find out more?

Next steps

Whether you feel called to vocational ministry or the marketplace, internships at Mars Hill allow you to serve the church and develop as a Christian and a leader. As a former intern, I am excited to see how God will use your internship to grow you. My prayer for you is that God will continue to guide you on your journey. If Mars Hill can assist you along the way, please apply.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
