Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting times of life—and one of the most stressful. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely in the midst of planning your wedding or getting ready to start the process. Congrats! Marriage is a beautiful picture of the relationship between Jesus and the church and a great adventure filled with joy, pain, struggle, hope, and love.
Each year, hundreds of couples at Mars Hill Church make a sacred vow to love each other for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do them part. It’s a solemn and powerful vow, not to be taken lightly.
The pre-marriage process at Mars Hill Church exists to come alongside couples to help prepare them spiritually, emotionally, and physically for their big day. If you’re wanting to get married at Mars Hill, the following is our pre-marriage process.
The Biblical Marriage class is a offered quarterly for couples considering marriage. This class is required for anyone wanting to be married by a Mars Hill pastor and is open to all Mars Hill attenders. It will give you a strong and sure Scriptural foundation for your marriage, teaching you the theology of Christian marriage and helping you to ensure that Jesus is the center of your marriage and source of your happiness.
A healthy marriage requires a healthy foundation. At Mars Hill, we’re passionate about healthy marriages that are centered on Jesus, bring glory to God, and are a lifelong friendship that grow every year.
For those who are dating and considering marriage, or who are engaged, we have a great pre-marriage counseling program to help get to know yourself and your potential spouse better to make sure you are a good fit.
As you begin your marriage planning at Mars Hill Church, you will be assigned a wedding coordinator to help you in planning for the day you say, “I do.”
Your Mars Hill Ceremony Coordinator will review your ceremony plans during a pre-wedding meeting with you, provide guidance regarding the details of the ceremony such as the order of the procession, the music, and the arrangement of the attendants, act as the liaison between the Mars Hill pastor performing your ceremony and yourself, and inform the pastor of all the important details, attend and facilitate the rehearsal, and be the primary contact responsible for guiding the wedding party through the procession and ceremony on the day of the wedding
If you’re ready to begin your pre-marriage process, please contact your local Mars Hill Church.
