Top 10 things to know before the Grand Opening

Hey Mars Hill Downtown Family,

I can't get this verse out of my mind: “The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy” (Ps 126:3). God has been so good to Mars Hill Downtown and this weekend I think I might explode with worship, joy, and thanksgiving. Here's your Grand Opening top 10 list of things to know:

10. Service times are Sunday at 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with baptisms!

Kids ministry will be launching at all services.
If you’ve never been baptized before or did before you were following Jesus, come and get baptized. We also will be having special guests, photo booth and maybe even horse-drawn carriage rides!

9. Thank God for TiVo and DVR.

The Seahawks kick off at 10am and join me in recording it and worshipping Jesus instead of football. Go Hawks!

8. All-Church Free Spaghetti lunch in the “Fellowship Hall” Following the 11:15 a.m. service.

We’re going to have a great time hanging out with old and new friends after the 11:15!

7. Give yourself extra time.

Leave a home a bit earlier to acclimate your way via car, bus, light rail, street car or feet to 811 5th Ave

6. Huge gatherting after the 5 p.m. service across the street at O’Asian.

One of Seattle’s premier Asian restaurants is opening up their doors for us and throwing us significant discounts on food and drinks. We will also be joined by a DJ who will be spinning some great tunes. Bring your friends out!

5. Ephesians Sermon Series Launch: Who Do You Think You Are.

Not only are we launching in our new home but we are launching our hotly-anticipated series in the book of Ephesians!

4. Pastor Mark will be preaching live at the 11:15 a.m. service!

Pastor Mark is beyond excited to come and join us for the big day.

3. Invite many!

We all have a fantastic opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, colleagues, or students from school to share in this celebration and to experience the heartbeat of Mars Hill Downtown.

2. Pray big!

Pray for God to touch this Sunday in an extraordinary way, but even beyond that, pray that he will supernaturally bless and empower the future ministry of Mars Hill Downtown for Jesus’ name and glory.

1. Stay positive and have fun!

This is going to be a brand new adventure for all of us. Lots will go right. Some may go wrong. And our bathrooms are still getting renovated which means another week of porta potties. There's going to be many adjustments for each of us. Let's show our gratitude to God by overflowing with thanksgiving, a positive spirit, and by all means... let's have fun! The joy of the Lord is our strength.

Thankful for you and love you!

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
