The executive elders had the opportunity to visit Mars Hill Portland for a Mission & Vision Night. The church was packed with families excited for what God is doing and eager to hear from the leaders on what is happening across all our churches and locally. The church has grown to almost 700 people in its first year under the leadership of Pastors Tim Smith and Ryan Mount. Volunteers also brought in over 90 pies! We couldn’t be more encouraged with how this local church family is doing.
Pastor Mark talked about how he wanted to make sure Portland knows they’re family. Even though he’s not close geographically, he loves this church as Paul did with all the churches of the New Testament. He also told them he hopes to be preaching at Mars Hill for 40 years, he’s not going anywhere. When he travels, he hears about the love others have for Portland and how people pray for their church often.
After Pastor Mark spoke, people hung around for two hours to share fellowship and meet the executive elders. They also took part in eating some of the pies. We look forward to seeing what God will do in the Willamette Valley in the coming months.
