A clique is the opposite of unity

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” Revelation 7:9

Preppies. Punks. Jocks. Geeks. These are just some of the groups, or cliques, with whom we identify or in which we place others.

Cliques are groups we look to for friendship, comfort, or even popularity. We believe that if we can make it into or even be accepted by a particular crowd, then life will be perfect. The problem is that cliques are made up of imperfect people. Inevitably, your clique will let you down.

The other problem with cliques is that once we’re in one, we tend to look down on those outside of our group. One day, however, this will all change.

In heaven, there won’t be cliques from which you’re excluded. There won’t even be separate groups to be a part of. The false hope of cliques will be destroyed. Everyone will be unified in Christ. While we can’t live this out perfectly today, we should do our best to live in unity with those who are in Christ, whether they’re like us or not.

  • How many people will be in heaven?
  • Where will all the people in heaven come from?
  • What will unity look like?

Prayer

Thank God that he has reconciled you and countless others to himself. Ask for his help in seeing his work in your community and around the world among all people.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

The Mars Hill Guide Leadership at Mars Hill

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
