Mars Hill was small, often homeless, and just getting started when Pastor Mark and Tim Smith met over 14 years ago at a conference in New Mexico. Whatever was said that day, Pastor Tim felt called to join Mars Hill, move with his wife across the country to live with Pastor Mark and Grace and head up worship at the church, the fruit of which today is Mars Hill Music. Pastor Tim served as the longtime worship pastor at the Ballard church, and then for a few years at the Bellevue one, before being called to head down to his native Oregon to lead the Portland church.
A lot has changed over the years. When Pastor Mark was recently at Mars Hill Portland for their recent Mission & Vision Night, he sat down with Pastor Tim Smith to talk about their long friendship, history at the church, and what they’ve seen God do over all those years.
