We hope you’re enjoying Pastor Mark’s preaching through the book of Acts. We pray Jesus will use it to change lives as we saw over and over again while going through the series on Ephesians. Here are a few of the great stories we've heard this week.
- A few weeks ago, one of the interns at Mars Hill Ballard was sitting with her father during the “I Am Fathered” sermon. The sermon stirred up a lot of hurt and pain that had been unaddressed between them. They had a conversation (two years overdue) right after the service and met up later that week to talk about reconciliation and forgiveness. Her father also called his ex-wife and apologized for the ways he had failed her and his children over the course of their marriage. It’s great to see the Holy Spirit working on people’s hearts.
- An exchange student from Spain is studying at the University of Washington. He shared with Pastor Drew how his biggest fear had been not finding community but that he’s felt incredibly loved and welcomed since being at Mars Hill U-District. He was very excited to be baptized on Easter. Another student came to U-District for the first time on Easter and saw the Spanish student and others baptized. The Holy Spirit started to draw him to Jesus. This other student joined a Community Group, accepted Jesus as his Savior a month ago, and was baptized last Sunday.
- A little girl at Mars Hill Bellevue said she wanted to believe in Jesus as her Savior for sin. The Kids Ministry leaders paged her dad, who came and sat with her as the leader counsel his daughter about salvation. She asked Jesus to save her with her dad beside her. Afterward, the dad said, “I had no idea she knew this much about Jesus.” He was very thankful.
- A mom at Mars Hill Bellevue asked her daughter what she wanted to bring to school for show and tell. The daughter, who is in first grade, said, “I want to share the Gospel-in-Motion,” talking about a series of hand motions the Kids Ministry uses to teach kids Jesus’ gospel. “I feel like God wants me to do this,” she said. Later, the little girl told her mom, “I’m feeling scared and a little embarrassed to share.” They talked and prayed about it, and the next morning before school the little girl said, “God made me feel good about sharing it with my class today.” She went to school and taught the whole thing in front of her class. Afterward, she told her mom, “I was scared, but 19 kids got to hear about Jesus today.” Some of her classmates told her it was cool she shared it.
We are so thankful Jesus uses Mars Hill Church to change people’s lives. We pray he continues to use us because there is nothing better than seeing him save people!
