This week, we began our Malachi: Living for a Legacy series as Pastor Mark delved into what it means to leave a godly legacy and how God has faithfully loved his people even when we don’t love him back. The book of Malachi closes the Old Testament canon with an illustration of what Israel has become—children who have been placed on the Father’s lap only to slap him in the face. But God, through his messenger Malachi, seeks to plead with the weak links in the chain of faith. And today, each of us is being asked the question, what type of legacy do we want to leave behind?

What kind of legacy will you leave?
By Pastor Ryan Kearns
What are you living for? It’s the question we’re always answering at every moment. What we are living for and what we give our life to will be our legacy. How did we love others? What did we do with the gifts that God gave us? How did we make our lives count, not for our fame, but for God’s?
The Greatness of God’s Electing Love
Sermon By John Piper
Malachi prophesied around 450 BC in Israel. He was one of the last inspired prophets before the 400-year lull in divine revelation between the Old Testament and Jesus Christ. The Israelites had returned from the Babylonian exile. Jerusalem had been rebuilt, and the temple restored. But the people had not learned their lesson from the exile. God sent his messenger and the first message he put on his lips was, “I have loved you, says the Lord!”
The Cost of Discipleship
Sermon by Pastor Mark Driscoll
Salvation costs you nothing, but discipleship will cost you everything. Salvation occurs in a moment, but discipleship takes a lifetime. Jesus asks whether or not you truly want to live a life of discipleship. If you are a disciple, do not quit. Everything that matters is hard. Everything that matters is costly. Do not quit. Don’t waste your life. Make your death count. Do not raise your hand unless you’re ready to see it through to the end.
