Yesterday, Pastor Mark flew down to Phoenix to preach live at our newest church. It was a smashing success with record-breaking attendance. They made a party out of it, complete with food trucks, cotton candy, popcorn, and bouncy houses for the kids.
There were 1,749 people across three morning services, which contributed to Mars Hill Phoenix’s highest attendance so far and to one of our largest non-Easter Sundays ever with nearly 15,000 people across all Mars Hill churches. Mars Hill Phoenix had even higher attendance than the morning services at Mars Hill Bellevue (which is consistently our largest church).
As Pastor Mark said in a recent blog post, “Numbers matter to God and they should matter to his church. Are we reaching anyone or not? Are we helping people or not? [...] Faces count to God as well. And, they should matter to his church. People are not just numbers; they are faces with names and stories.” So, we rejoice at these numbers because they represent people who are hearing about and meeting Jesus, which is always worthy of celebration!
