Every time God provides an opportunity, Satan brings opposition. This is why, for those who follow Jesus, things are bound to get harder, not easier. But by the grace of God, you can fight, persevere, and emerge victorious because, as the Bible says, no temptation will come to you that you can’t beat.

- God doesn’t allow any temptation more than we can handle. You might be saying, “I have never faced anything like this.” The reason you may be facing something hard today is because you’re finally ready for it. #boldJames
- We give birth to sin, and then sin brings us death. Jesus is born to live without sin to die for our sin so that through his death is birthed our life. Through our sin, we birth death. Through Jesus’ death, he births our life. #boldJames

Jesus without Sin
Sermon on Luke 4:1–13 by Pastor Mark Driscoll
Temptation is like bait on a hook. Satan will bait the hook with anything enticing enough to get you to bite, then he will reel you in to death. Jesus was tempted in every way by Satan, but never sinned. Jesus responded by quoting Scripture, that is, the sword of the Spirit, even after Satan tried to turn the sword against him. In light of Luke 4, Pastor Mark shares ten temptation truths to help us resist the bait.
Even Jesus Was Tempted
By Charles Spurgeon via Resurgence
“Satan came to tempt Jesus and question his sonship. There is no sin in being tempted, for the perfect Jesus was “one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb. 4:15). Temptation does not necessitate sinning; Jesus was tempted, ‘yet without sin.’ Not even the worst forms of it involve sin. Jesus endured the subtlest of temptations from the evil one himself.”
Temptation Is an Invitation
By Casey Cease via Resurgence
“Temptation is not sin. Temptation is an invitation to worship. You will either worship the enemy and do what he is tempting you to do, or you will worship Jesus and resist the temptation and obey. Either way you are worshiping.”
God the great and powerful (and warm and wonderful)
By Marsha Michaelis via Resurgence
It’s easy to think of God only in giant, serious, biblical terms that feel more like an encounter with the giant head of Oz than the warm and real person behind the curtain. But all that changes with Jesus.
