Join us for Good Friday

This weekend, believers around the world will gather and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that moment in history when hope was fulfilled and every heart offered the comfort of knowing that Jesus was, in fact, exactly who he said he was.

But to get to Easter, we have to go through Good Friday.

Though Easter and Good Friday are inextricably linked, each focuses on a very different aspect of the work of Christ. To observe Good Friday, every Mars Hill church will host services tonight in dark, somber settings to observe the story of Christ and our need for redemption. Be prepared for a weighty service consisting of dim lighting and sorrowful music. If you’re not near a Mars Hill location, an online service will be available for streaming (all service times below).

What to expect

The purpose of this dark night is to acknowledge, more than at any other time, the sheer, despairing weight of our sin that killed God. But it’s not a pity party; it’s a glimpse into the incredible lengths to which Jesus suffered in order to lift that weight from us. That’s the reason it’s called Good Friday—Jesus paid the price that we could not pay, securing salvation for everyone who would put their trust in him.

Each service will be one hour in length. Pastor Mark Driscoll will preach live at the Meydenbauer Center while each church will hear from its local pastor, partake of communion, and sing songs befitting the occasion.

Please join us in observing Good Friday. Knowing the depth to which our sin condemns us makes Easter Sunday that much more sweet and helps us to understand why the celebration is far more joyful than we often realize.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

The Mars Hill Guide Leadership at Mars Hill

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
