From the time I became a Christian as a young teenager, I prayed that Jesus would give me a son to change the world. My dream seemed to die along with my son, David, who passed away before he was three months old. But Jesus has been comforting my heartache for years now in a most unexpected way. In addition to giving me and my wife, Kara, four amazing daughters, he has given me mentor/discipleship relationships with many “spiritual sons” over the past two decades.
For this reason, it goes without saying that one of the greatest responsibilities of my position at Mars Hill Church is working directly with the lead pastors and the lead pastor residents. It is such an overwhelming joy and, simultaneously, a weighty honor to speak into the hearts, lives, and ministries of several of God’s men.
I get to work with these men on a very regular basis and count it a great privilege to be a “spiritual father” in many ways.
I’m excitedly anticipating Mars Hill’s next class of lead pastor residents. If you love Jesus, love his church, and love seeing others meet Jesus, I would encourage you to pray and ask God if he might be calling you to enter the Lead Pastor Residency at Mars Hill. The application deadline is Thursday, May 1, so seek God, and then apply as he leads.
I look forward to working with you, man of God!
