5 Things you can expect from RED Summer Camp

What one word is guaranteed to make an entire room of RED Students start cheering? Camp!

RED Summer Camp is by far the greatest event that happens for our young people each year at Mars Hill. Here are five great things that they are guaranteed to experience at camp:

1. Great news

If you were to ask me my favorite things about summer camp, taking first place—like Usain Bolt in a fun run—is the way Jesus radically alters the trajectory of young people’s lives when they hear the great news of what he has done for them. Camp is about getting away from the norm for a few days to seek the face of God so we may be fueled for the mission of God. It’s a gospel injection. And when the gospel is proclaimed, the gospel happens and nothing comes close to that!

2. Great times

Both of our camp locations are set up for students to have a ridiculous amount of fun. Our junior high students are heading to the largest indoor waterpark in the Northwest complete with waterslides, a wave pool, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, plus a huge special surprise planned for you on the last day of camp (more details to come about that!).

Our high school students will be back at Washington Family Ranch in Oregon, which boasts a massive pool and lakefront complete with the blob, the biggest zip line you’ve ever seen, and an 88,000 square foot sports center offering basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, octaball, ping pong, billiards, climbing walls, a skate park, go-karts, and ‘The Screamer.’

3. Great friendships

RED Summer Camp is the best time to strengthen friendships and to make new ones. God has designed us in such a way that we are only truly healthy when we do life in community—and one of the most important ingredients to walking well through the junior high/high school years is being surrounded by great friends who will point you in the right direction.

4. Great worship

There are few things better than the sound of hundreds and hundreds of young men and women loving Jesus at the top of their lungs. We have some amazing bands joining us for camp, including our very own high-energy indie rock band, Citizens.

5. Great memories

As I’ve talked with many of our student leaders and think back to my own teenage years, some of the very best memories and defining moments in our journeys with Jesus happened at Summer Camp. I have memories of laughing hysterically, making a little bit of mischief, and meeting plenty of new friends. But best of all, I remember powerful encounters with Jesus through his word that changed my life.

So be sure to register yourself, and a friend or two, for RED Summer Camp this year! Or, alternatively, we would love to invite you to sponsor a student to camp who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
