It’s official! Mars Hill Church is expanding to Spokane, a city in eastern Washington and the metropolitan center of the Inland Northwest. Pastor Miles Rohde, a recent graduate of the Lead Pastor Residency, will take the reigns to guide the church into the future in the hope of impacting the thousands of people who call the Spokane area home. There are hundreds of churches already operating in Spokane, and yet there are still people in the area who need to hear the gospel.
“I have grown in my understanding that church-saturation does not equate to gospel-saturation,” said Pastor Miles. “It is my prayer that Mars Hill Spokane will continue in the mission of making disciples and planting churches in and throughout the Inland Northwest and beyond. We are not coming in as if we have it all together; we are coming to Spokane, humbly knowing that Jesus is already being made much of by many Bible-believing, gospel-preaching, Jesus-loving churches in Spokane. I know that lives are being saved by the gospel, that sin is being repented of, and that Jesus is being trusted alone for salvation. Mars Hill Spokane has the joy and privilege of coming into a city where the gospel is already at work, and where churches are boldly proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.”
At present, Mars Hill Spokane is gathering a core group of people to plant the church. Pastor Miles hopes to begin offering services and developing leaders in the fall in anticipation of an official church launch in early 2015.
“By God’s grace, he has already called many people to be on mission and to become part of Mars Hill Spokane,” said Pastor Miles. “We have over 60 people who are committed to being members of the Mars Hill Spokane core group, people who have been redeemed by Jesus, love and desire to serve him, love his Word, and want to see countless others meet Jesus, be redeemed, and by the power and work of the Holy Spirit, be made into fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ—disciple-making disciples.”
