Everyday grace: how Jesus is changing lives, part 4

Jesus changes lives. Jesus makes people new. Jesus redeems legacies and steps in to completely and utterly transform people.

Some of these people have been sharing online how Jesus has used Mars Hill to change them, save them, and give them life and hope. Jesus is perfect and does perfect work, even through imperfect people and churches like Mars Hill. Nobody is off limits for Jesus. He already loves you in the most lavish way. He changed the lives here; he can change yours.

Some of these posts and pictures have been re-posted here, with permission, for your encouragement. Share what Jesus has done in your life through Mars Hill using #changedlives or share your story with us online at marshill.com/stories.

“I’ve been attending Mars Hill Church since 2006 and Pastor Mark has had a huge positive impact on my life and the lives of many of my friends. I started at Mars Hill Church as an immature boy and through the Holy Spirit’s conviction brought about by Pastor Mark’s preaching, I have grown and matured in huge ways. I could write paragraphs of the things I have learned and been blessed by while at Mars Hill Church. I know that no one is perfect and I don’t expect them to be. Thank you Mars Hill Church and Pastor Mark for following the Holy Spirit and continuing to learn and grow through this trying season at our church. I love you guys and have been and will continue to pray!”

“I have been going to Mars Hill since 2007 and I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions of my life. Pastor Mark had preached at my school’s chapel service, and at that time my faith was hanging by a string, plus I wasn’t happy at the church I had grown up in. Something I saw then and that I continue to see whenever he preaches is that he makes the gospel make sense and you can tell that he loves Jesus a lot and wants us to as well. I am happy being at Mars Hill and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Thank you Jesus for putting Pastor Mark Driscoll in all of our lives. I know my life is better because of it.”

“I came to faith in 2007, and within two months was a devoted podcaster. In the early stages of my walk, Pastor Mark was a key voice in teaching me what it meant to be a godly man and a child of God. No other ministry has shaped me the way that Mars Hill has. It has been a prayer of my wife’s and mine to relocate to Seattle so that we could attend Mars Hill. By God’s providence and grace, the job I got to be able to relocate . . . was at Mars Hill. The people, leadership, and Mark have been such a wonderful part of my life, and I am so blessed by all of you. I love you, this church, and God for what he is doing every day. I am blessed that I get to be a part of Mars Hill and serve you and God’s church. Thank you so much for this group and for the encouragement. It was exactly what I needed after a hard day.”

Aaron baptizes his oldest child at Mars Hill West Seattle.

“Thank you to whoever started this, and to all who posted on this thread. One of many memories I have at the church I live is baptizing my oldest [child] with Pastor David Fairchild earlier this year. I’ll post often as I have lots more to share.”

—Aaron

“I came to Mars Hill in 2005 not knowing a thing about Jesus, with no one in my family knowing him as anything more than a myth. Through Pastor Mark’s preaching I am now a son of the King! Since then, I’ve lead six other people to God, through Pastor Mark’s preaching to them, by the power of God, to come to know this God as their Savior, one of which was apparently soon after my wife. Now my son will grow up knowing Jesus and so will his children. There are an unknown number of people that will be worshiping King Jesus around the throne thanks to Pastor Mark’s faithful preaching of God’s word. Thank you and we love you, Pastor Mark!”

“My heart has been so grieved the last several weeks. I am so thankful that this page was made. I’ve been in tears the last hour as I’ve read through the testimonies of my dear friends and brothers and sisters.

“I came to Mars Hill in 2010 a broken, bitter, and lost woman. I am a single mother, and walking through the hurt and anger that comes with that was a tough road, but my Father was ever faithful and pursued me through his people at Mars Hill. When my son was diagnosed with two congenital heart defects and subsequently had open heart surgery last year, God tangibly showed me his love through his people, my church family. Joe and I were rallied around, covered in prayer, and provided for. I wasn’t given the chance to truly fear because I was constantly reminded of the goodness of my Heavenly Father by my brothers and sisters at Mars Hill. My family has been walked with through countless hard seasons, and my faith has grown exponentially through Mars Hill and Pastor Mark’s preaching. I am so far from perfect, so why on earth would I expect any other person to be perfect. Mark Driscoll is an anointed preacher of the word, and you know he loves Jesus with all his heart. I will stand by my pastor and my church, and will continue to serve and pray with/for them because this is his [God’s] church first and he loved me enough to lead me here and save me in spite of my sin. Thank you, Jesus, for my family that you adopted me into.”

“This group and these posts are so encouraging today. My life has forever been changed by Jesus through the ministry of Mars Hill and Pastor Mark. I’m so thankful for this church.”

“Being a young single mother with no family in Washington, Mars Hill has been wonderful for me. With no judgment as I walk through the doors, to the best Community Group that has become my family and walked beside me through many hard times. Mars Hill Tacoma feels like home. I wouldn’t be half the mother or person I am today without the people of Mars Hill pointing me and guiding me towards a daily relationship with Christ that is on fire. Praying for pastor Mark and the Mars hill family.”

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
