Everyday grace: how Jesus is changing lives, part 2

Jesus changes lives. Jesus makes people new. Jesus redeems legacies and steps in to completely and utterly transform people.

Some of these people have been sharing online how Jesus has used Mars Hill to change them, save them, and give them life and hope. Jesus is perfect and does perfect work, even through imperfect people and churches like Mars Hill. Nobody is off limits for Jesus. He already loves you in the most lavish way. He changed the lives here; he can change yours.

Some of these posts and pictures have been re-posted here, with permission, for your encouragement. Share what Jesus has done in your life through Mars Hill using #changedlives or share your story with us online at marshill.com/stories.

“Sadly I am no longer in an area where I can attend a Mars Hill campus, but Mark’s preaching and the church has had a lasting impact on my life. Over the years I attended, I learned a lot about God’s love for me as an individual and his grace for me as a sinner. I met people who were okay with sharing their failures and encouraging others in their faith. I saw others strengthened in their personal walks, as I was in mine. I’m praying for Mark and for everyone involved, and that Jesus will be glorified. I can’t speak to the experiences of others, only my own. And mine is one that I will remain thankful for, for the rest of my life!”

Alyssa proclaims her faith through baptism at Mars Hill Church.

“I’ve been at Mars Hill for almost two years. Now my whole family, including my grandma, comes every Sunday as we hear the gospel being boldly preached. We are all so thankful for Mars Hill Church and the strong community we have found because of it. Jesus is alive and I am constantly being pointed to him. I have been loved, discipled, challenged, and encouraged at this church. I love my pastors and am so grateful for the grace I have been shown at Mars Hill. Jesus has undoubtedly used this church to grow me closer to him and his people.”

“I became a Christian under Pastor Mark’s preaching at Mars Hill! Pastor Mark talked about Jesus sooo much in this giant book called the Bible and pretty soon I found myself thirsty to read from this book my pastor preached from! Jesus saved me after I read through the New Testament. I am so thankful for Pastor Mark and his Holy Spirit-led preaching and teaching! God pierces me with the sword of his word through this man’s preaching every Sunday! We choose to tithe, attend, serve, love, and pray for Mars Hill until Jesus directs us away or calls us home! Praying for my brother Pastor Mark! Jesus is alive and reigning King, there is only great hope!”

“I came to Mars Hill a Christian, but a lost one. Searching for purpose in a man and not in Jesus, the Lord; years removed from a church family and any church service at all. I was skeptical, and ran almost everything I heard past my dad who has been a pastor all my life. But the Holy Spirit became my guide in life. [He] helped me conquer my addiction to impure thoughts, taught me how to pray, strengthened my convictions. I found a community here like none other I have ever known. Supportive discipleship on a weekly basis, biblical teaching, discernment, and constant prayer warriors. The Lord became center in my life and when I was ready, brought me a godly man who had been attending, learning how to lead, and growing in Christ at Mars Hill before I even considered going. I am so very grateful for the biblical teaching and discipleship at this church. My husband and I wouldn’t be where we are today without it.”

“I seriously do not know where we would be right now if it weren’t for God’s people and his church leading and pointing us to him!”

“In the past three years my husband and I have suffered a separation in our marriage, a miscarriage of our daughter Ava Grace, and most recently battling a high risk pregnancy with our 3rd child. We have gone through our own personal hell and there were times I felt like giving up. Mars Hill Church and people have been God’s hands and feet to us. They have continued to love on us, support us, pray for us, encourage us, cry with us, and walk through the ugliness . . . while ALWAYS pointing us back to Jesus. I am so thankful for the love and support we have experienced and I seriously do not know where we would be right now if it weren’t for God’s people and his church leading and pointing us to him!”

—Sarah

“I’d heard pastor Mark all the way in Billings, Montana. My wife Alison and I moved to Seattle almost four years ago. We immediately began attending Mars Hill.

“After about a year we found out Alison was pregnant. [At] 24 weeks of pregnancy my wife’s water broke. Our daughter was born at 26 weeks. During four months of daily trips to the hospital, we were so well loved by our Mars Hill family through meals, money, and constant prayer. Mars Hill is our home.

“I should say, the people we’ve met in this church we gladly consider family. We are so blessed to serve this church in return.”

—Justin

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

The Mars Hill Guide Leadership at Mars Hill

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
