Make a Plan to Read the Bible

Are you living in the Word? A true follower of Jesus both lives in the Word and lives out the Word. This Sunday I have the privilege to preach on 1 John 2:18-27, and the absolute necessity and importance of being people of the Word. Are you reading the Bible? Are you studying and memorizing the Bible?

What’s Your Plan?

If you don’t have a plan, I encourage you to go deep and go broad with the Bible. Make time for the Bible every day, so that it becomes a habit - an addiction even. There are many resources available to help you create a plan. We have compiled some of our favorite resources below to help you read through the Bible and memorize scripture.

Bible Reading Plans

The following are links to some really great Bible reading plans that you can follow online, through apps, or subscribe to via calendar and RSS feeds. Find one that works for you and start a plan today:

Scripture Memory

Here are a few books and apps that can help you get organized in memorizing scripture:

Commentaries

As you go deeper with the Bible, we recommend the New Bible Commentary from D.A. Carson to help with your study.

Additionally these surveys may be helpful in finding additional commentaries:

Study Bibles

Lastly, a good study Bible can also help you go deeper in the Word, as they include notes and commentary that help you intepret and study scripture. We recommend the ESV Study Bible, but there are many different study bibles to choose from.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

The Mars Hill Guide Leadership at Mars Hill

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Cheerful givers wanted

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
