Next Steps for Phoenix

Today is bittersweet for the Mars Hill Church family as our Phoenix location will gather for the last time as a Mars Hill church. In the difficult decisions that were made this month due to our current financial crisis, Pastor Tim Birdwell and Mars Hill Phoenix were informed that their location would be closed.

However, Pastor Tim, the leadership of Mars Hill, and the family members of Mars Hill Phoenix prayed much and discussed the option of becoming an independent church.

Pastor Tim shared this, "We know that Jesus is bigger than our current situation and we also know that the church is simply a gathering of Jesus’ people. This transition is great evidence that it really is all about Jesus."

Phoenix Bible Church

We grieve having to release them as a Mars Hill church, however we are so excited for them to continue on as Phoenix Bible Church under the leadership of Pastor Tim. He asked for prayer for the following items:

  • Pray that Jesus would be made much of in Phoenix through a difficult transition.

  • Pray for Phoenix Bible Church, this committed family of believers, that Jesus would bless them continually and mightily.

  • Pray also that he would allow them to continue reaching many people in Phoenix for his glory alone.

  • Pray for unity and community among the members, and that this transition would bring people together in a unique way for the glory of Jesus and joy of the church.

  • Pray for financial provision to cover certain basic needs that need to get established in a short timeframe.

If you are in the Phoenix area and want to be a part of Phoenix Bible Church, you can sign up for more information on their new website. Their first Sunday together as a new church will be October 5th at a location to be determined.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Cheerful givers wanted

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
