Life at Mars Hill 11/29/12

Events coming up at Mars Hill

Wednesday, December 5 at 7 p.m.

Parent Training: “Parenting with the Gospel” at Mars Hill Downtown Bellevue

Parenting is God’s gift and our great responsibility. In a culture with many parenting theories, how does Jesus change our parenting? Through discussion and teaching, Pastor Gary Shavey will demonstrate that, in every moment, there is nothing better you can give your children than the gospel (1 Cor. 15).

Saturday, December 8 at 11 a.m.

Annual Christmas Coat Lunch at Mars Hill Downtown Seattle

One of the ways we express the love of Jesus for the people in our city is our annual Christmas Coat Lunch. We want everyone to know Jesus. We want a relationship with all of the people who come through our doors. The Christmas Coat Lunch is an opportunity for us to love and serve those in our city who are in need. We want to help keep the people in our city with no home warm and fed, and most of all to have them know they are welcome and accepted in God’s family.

Tuesday, December 11 at 6 p.m.

Q School: Training Tomorrow’s Preachers at Mars Hill U-District

Q School is a venue to evaluate our elders’ ability to preach with the intent of approving them for regular duty on the pulpit. Come hear Pastor Donovan from Albuquerque and our four lead pastor residents preach before a live audience: you, plus a panel of evaluators made up of pastors Mark Driscoll, Dave Bruskas, and Justin Holcomb. Following their sermons, the preachers will be given constructive feedback from the panel.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Cheerful givers wanted

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
