Exciting real estate news for Mars Hill Tacoma

Dear Mars Hill family,

Several months ago, we announced our intention to purchase a wonderful vintage church building in downtown Tacoma, with plans to plant the 15th Mars Hill church, this one under the leadership of Pastor Bubba Jennings. Today, it is an honor and privilege to announce that we have closed on the sale of the First Congregational Church in Tacoma, Washington.

At Mars Hill, our mission is to make disciples and to plant churches, and as such, there are not many things in this life that bring me greater joy than seeing this church get off the ground. In September, we held a vision night at the new church. That evening was attended by 500 people who heard from Pastor Bubba, Pastor Mark, and the executive elders on our plans for Mars Hill Tacoma and the fundraising needed to retrofit the building in order to make it our home. It was a truly magical night. (The News Tribune also wrote a story about that night.)

Starting immediately, we will begin fundraising for remodel and repair work that needs to be done throughout the building before we can officially move in. Our goal is to begin holding services at the new building in the fall of 2013.

If you live in the Tacoma area, then this is a particularly exciting time for you. If you are part of the Mars Hill family, please join me in celebrating what God is doing through our church. If you are not yet part of the family, we’d love for you to come and see what it’s all about.

If you’d like to know more about the Tacoma church, particularly how to get involved, please visit the Mars Hill Tacoma page for more info. During He Made Us Family, our God’s Work, Our Witness 2012 Christmas sermon series, please consider a gift above and beyond your normal giving. Those funds help support projects such as Tacoma, the purchase of a new building in Everett, the rebuilding of our new Downtown Seattle location, and more. You can give towards these project by choosing the “General Church Fund” at marshill.com/give.

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
