Stories from around Mars Hill, 8/6/13

It’s been amazing to see God work recently at Mars Hill Church. From people being healed to people meeting Jesus, there are no shortages of stories this summer.

  • Pastor Ryan at Mars Hill Everett met a homeless man at an open house for their new building. The man ended up bringing 35 of his friends to get free food! The volunteers were able to engage with and serve each one of them. When Pastor Ryan asked the original guy how he was doing, he said, “I’ve got Jesus, so I’m doing well. I might not have much else in this world, but if I’ve got Jesus then I’ve got more than the richest man.” There was something really genuine about him that Pastor Ryan appreciated and was very encouraged by.

  • A couple that goes to Mars Hill West Seattle moved into a new apartment complex where they launched a Community Group. Two families joined that were not a part of Mars Hill, and one of the husbands recently became a Christian. It’s so good to see Jesus use Community Groups as an effective doorway for mission.

  • Mars Hill U-District had the opportunity to pray for the healing of over 60 people at post-service prayer a few weeks ago. There were so many people seeking prayer at the 7 p.m. service that friends and family spread throughout the sanctuary to pray for each other.

Praise Jesus that he brings people out of darkness and into light!

"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” John 8:12

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.
