The season we are in has been flying by. I cannot believe we’re already over half way through our Ten Commandments series. A lot is happening around Mars Hill Church as we’re in the midst of a busy fall. Here are a few great stories of Jesus changing people.
- A deacon at Mars Hill Everett was diagnosed with kidney cancer eight months ago and was given six months to live. He approached the elders for prayer after his diagnosis. They prayed for healing and for Jesus to be glorified. On Tuesday, the man had a scan of his entire body and the results came back with no trace of cancer in his kidneys or lymph nodes.
- Two students at Mars Hill Sammamish became Christians recently during their Wednesday night Student Ministry. The All In event was one of the student’s first time at Mars Hill Students. After becoming a Christian, he said he would be bringing his siblings next week.
- Two months ago, a man from Mars Hill Federal Way was in jail. After he was released, his brother brought him to Mars Hill. Jesus saved him and now he’s in the member class and serving as a greeter.
- Pastor Matt Wallace, from Mars Hill Orange County, describes a man in his church: He’s the typical Orange County dude. He has a successful career, beautiful wife and kid, a regular at church, and in a Community Group. Yet he’s not actively and boldly leading anyone, including his family. He recently told me, “Since being here, I have grown in my faith and realize my faith isn’t something to be hidden, but rather something to be celebrated. After fighting against baptism for a long time, I feel this is something God wants me to do. I want my wife and daughter to watch me get baptized so I can share this amazing event with them.” The man was baptized recently, then baptized his wife. He is now apprenticing to lead a Community Group.
- A single mom approached Pastor Thomas Hurst at Mars Hill Bellevue recently to tell him because of his transparency from the stage regarding God’s call on him to stop drinking alcohol, she felt she could trust God and start facing her own addictions. She confessed to being addicted to painkillers. Pastor Thomas was able to point her toward Redemption Groups and got her into a Community Group on the spot.
- A few months ago, a couple from Mars Hill Ballard approached Pastor Scott Harris at post-service prayer to ask if he would pray for what they thought was a miscarriage. Recently, they found Pastor Scott again to let him know the wife was 13 weeks pregnant. Pastor Scott was able to pray with them again, this time to thank and praise God for his care and protection in their lives.
We feel very blessed for how Jesus has worked at Mars Hill Church. Please join with us in continuing to pray that he may use us to help draw people closer to him.
