Lord, you tell us that your Word has been breathed out by you and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. As Pastor Mark prepares for this controversial series, make it known to all people that your Word is as true today as it was when it was written. Holy Spirit, burden my heart with the truth of your Word so that I might become complete and equipped for every good work.
Help us to trust that your Word is the source of truth and life, even when it leads us to repent of sins we struggle to give up, or challenges things we or those around us hold dear. Guide us in listening to your Word so that we hear all that you have for us. Holy Spirit, speak to us and transform our hearts as we study your Word so that we will desire your true teaching, reproof, and correction. Please help us to avoid foolish, ignorant controversies, to flee sinful passions and, by the power of your Spirit, to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Train us in righteousness and change us from the inside out, so that we can be motivated by your grace to become agents of grace toward others. Help us to love others as you first loved us.
