“. . . since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel . . .” Colossians 1:4–5

Lord, thank you that you have equipped some men with kingly gifts. Today, we specifically thank you for our church leaders whom you have given kingly gifts, who catch the vision and see ways to execute the mission, bringing order and structure to serve the whole church. They are leaders who “love all the saints” by being focused on the details necessary to achieve the mission of making disciples and planting churches. As we grow, please call additional men with these gifts to serve you and the body of Christ at Mars Hill. May they be encouraged that you have designed them in a unique way for your service so that “all the saints” may be loved.
Ephesians 4:11–13 tells us you “gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God . . .” The people you put in leadership are gifts, and all good gifts come from the Father above (James 1:17).
Thank you for the people you have put in places of authority over me. I know from Romans 13:1 that their placement in my life is no accident, whether parents, teachers, coaches, employers, civic leaders, or those in church leadership (elders and deacons).
Help me to understand and cultivate the unique gifts you have given me and to know how I can serve the church family with them.
Amen.
