In Matt. 1:22–23, Scripture declares Jesus to be the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14 and with remarkable clarity proclaims Jesus’ divinity. As the book of Matthew comes to a close, this truth is made still more sure. Here, in Matt. 28:18–20 the people of God are reminded not only of God’s mission for their lives, but are also given the hope-filled assurance that Jesus will remain with his people until the end of the age. Jesus—God with us!
