“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8–9
Read 1 Peter 1:8–9
Lord, thank you that you have caused us to believe you and love you. We pray for those who do not yet love you, that you would draw them to yourself. Reveal to them your glory and redeeming grace that they might believe in you and rejoice in response to their faith. Lord I pray you would use this sermon series in my life to help me share the gospel with friends, family, and those I don’t know that you bring into my life. Help me to believe boldly that you can save those I know, even if they have been living in opposition to you for decades. Help me to encourage fellow believers to seek to share the gospel with people in their life to whom they have been afraid to witness.
As Pastor Mark speaks to the idolatry and distortions in our culture, let your truth speak clearly through him so people can hear the gospel and come to know you. Lord, please break down the walls people have built up and cause their hearts to be tender toward your truth, open to hear your gospel. Jesus, please reveal my own idolatry and cultural distortions so I can be molded into your image. Bring people into my life who will be honest with me when they see my idolatry and use your Word and Holy Spirit to convict me of my sin. Show me where I believe the lies of the enemy.
Lord, thank you for saving me. Use me to draw others to you, for your glory.
Amen.
